Content Writing and Design
Throughout my professional career I've used tone and voice to influence messaging in marketing emails, web and mobile graphics, SEO articles, corporate communications, journalistic pieces, design layouts, brand campaigns and product descriptions. You can find some of my best work in these areas below.
Email Marketing
In June 2020, I began my current role as a brand copywriter for Foot Locker. One of my primary responsibilities is to craft marketing emails for Champs Sports and Eastbay. These marketing emails contain headlines, subheads, and calls to action. More samples are available upon request.
Writing for the Web and Mobile
Along with marketing emails, I also write website copy, text messages, and app notifications at Foot Locker. Here you’ll see variations of these communications. They demonstrate how I’ve contributed to our customer’s buyer’s journey on each channel.
The website examples call attention to shoe collaborations between celebrities, influencers, and top athletic brands. The mobile examples zero in on offer and new arrivals messaging. Ultimately, the goal is to entice customers to click through and shop products.
SEO Copywriting
Before I started at Foot Locker, I was a copywriter with CopyPress, a content marketing agency in the Tampa Bay area. I wrote 1,000-word articles for Indeed, which was their top client. Articles covered a variety of subjects like job search strategies, resume and interview tips, and definitive articles on accounting, human resources, and general business concepts.
I also wrote articles for CopyPress' website and additional clients to help users understand the importance of content marketing and the various components behind generating high-quality content.
I was able to leverage this experience to write SEO articles for Foot Locker. Once drafted and approved, they would be published at the bottom of product pages.
While the attached images show the SEO copy I’ve written for both of these companies, I take the most pride in the back-to-school shoes article. It’s here where I showcase my ability to write for different audiences while pivoting quickly between them.
Below, you’ll see the back-to-school shoes article as well as the Indeed article and blog post for a law firm based out of the Los Angeles, California area.
Corporate Communications
I developed my skills in corporate communications working for PSCU, a credit union service organization in St. Petersburg, FL. Each month, I wrote a column for their monthly magazine, Engagement Builder. The article below is about Boeing Employees' Credit Union's financial literacy initiative that they conduct annually to local high schools in Washington state.
Journalism and Design Layout
My first experience with tone and voice was for the sports section of the University of Tampa's student newspaper, The Minaret. Beginning my freshman year, I began writing stories on UT’s athletes by gathering quotes from them and their coaches.
The next year, I became the sports editor, where I used Adobe InDesign to edit the layout for the weekly publication. Below, you will find two stories I wrote and a front-page design I worked on with the editorial team. The main story of the design was when UT’s baseball team defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in 2015.
Brand Campaign Development
While storytelling has always been my passion, working on brand campaign development has helped me elevate this skill. I have worked on multiple brand campaigns for Champs Sports and Eastbay, bringing featured themes to life.
The first two images present tone and voice for Eastbay’s conqHER series, highlighting how women in sport are breaking barriers today. It later became nominated for a 2021 Webby Award for Best Sports Video Series and Channel.
The following image contains messaging promoting Champs Sports’ Holiday Gift Guide. The graphic received a 6.98% conversion rate when it was published onto their website.
Product Copywriting
I’ve spent most of my time at Foot Locker writing email, mobile, and website messaging. However, I also write product descriptions on an as-needed basis. This experience gives me the chance to learn the ins and outs of sneakers while connecting product copy to cultural moments that generate excitement.
